IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Where are you located?
Echodale Farm is nestled in the rolling hills of the North East Kingdom in South Albany, VT. While we don't often have visitors to the farm itself because we don't hold the permits to allow us to serve our cider on our property, you can purchase Echodale Cider by the glass at Parker Pie, or by the bottle next door at the Lake Parker Country Store at 161 County Rd in Glover, VT.
  • Can I purchase Echodale Cider online?
We sell our ciders exclusively in person at Parker Pie and the Lake Parker Country Store in Glover, VT.
  • Is Echodale Cider organic?
We’ve chosen not to pursue organic certification—not because we fall short of the standards, but because the process often emphasizes paperwork and fees over real ecological care. In truth, our approach goes well beyond what the organic label requires. We don’t add anything to the land—no synthetic chemicals, no fertilizers, not even approved organic inputs. We farm intuitively, working with the rhythms of the land and trusting in the strength of natural systems to guide us. Our focus is on true stewardship: listening closely, responding thoughtfully, and letting the ecosystem lead.
  • Is Echodale Cider Sweet?
Echodale Cider is a champagne-like cider that is fizzy, fruit-forward, and not too sweet.
  • What apples do you use in Echodale Cider?
We use exclusively apples grown in our permaculture orchard.
  • What is permaculture?
Permaculture is a set of principles that guides how we interact with natural systems. It is not as simple as “certified organic” in the sense that it is a system that applies to all aspects of life, from growing food and interacting with the natural environment to the built environment. It is a system that treats nature as an equal partner, and relies on nature to do what nature does best — growing things. By following these principles, we are able to grow agricultural products without any synthetic inputs. Many agricultural management practices call for testing — such as testing the soil for micronutrients. In permaculture, we like to say if you get the biology right, the chemistry will follow. So if anything, we test the biology, not the chemistry.
  • How old are the trees?
We acquired the property in 2011 and planted the first tree in 2015. In parallel, we started making cider using purchased cider apples, until 2023, when we had enough of our own apples to ferment 2,000 liters.
  • How is the cider made?
Depending on year, variety, and quality of apples, we sometimes ferment them in stainless steel, or barrels. We don’t have have different cider “varieties” — we have different processes — and these are noted on each label.
  • What does E.O. Randall carry in store?
